Karan Johar, the Director, Talks About his Journey from ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’

Filmmaker Karan Johar who has directed many hit movies feels that his
journey as a director has changed drastically. He feels that his journey has gone from innocence to being an adventurous one.
Asked about his journey as a director in the industry, he told IANS here: "I think my journey started with innocence. It went on to maturity and it went on to stability and now it's an adventure."
Karan, who will soon be seen on the small screen via Colors' dance reality TV show "Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa" as a judge, says being on the show is like being with family for him.
"I am pretty excited as 'Jhalak...' for me is like a family. To be part of 'Jhalak...' is emotional for me because I began my journey with reality TV with this. Once I got into it, I realised the impact of Indian TV and it has played a large part in building my personality and perhaps my brand value.
"'Jhalak...' will always remain special for various reasons whether I am a part of it or not. It will always remain a big part of my existence in the entertainment world," the 44-year-old said.
Karan is quite a popular celebrity among celebrities, and he is known to have a lot of friends in showbiz. Many a times people have called the industry a "fake world".
Asked how difficult it gets to be real in the "fake world", Karan said: "I don't know… fakeness is a by-product of circumstance. Sometimes, you have to be artificial or fake to match the environment around you, but then you reach a certain age and stage in your life where you feel you don't need to kind of be a certain person anymore you can be a little closer to yourself."
All said and done, he says "we all still put on a face".
"I am not being my complete real self while answering this question, but it's closer to the truth. Yes, we all are fake, we all are artificial, we all have to put up a face, but with age and with a certain stage the artificiality reduces.
"Then it's for you and for the audience out there to realise whether they like you and you kind of organically change yourself with the process."

Twinkle Khanna Slams Naseeruddin Shah for Calling Father Rajesh Khanna ‘a Poor Actor’

Twinkle Khanna is known for speaking her mind and she was definitely not going to stay silent after veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah passed some disparaging remarks against her late father superstar Rajesh Khanna.
In an interview, Naseeruddin Shah was quoted saying, ‘It was the 70’s when mediocrity came in Hindi films. That’s when the actor called Rajesh Khanna joined the industry. For all his success, I think Mr Khanna was a very limited actor. In fact, he was a poor actor. Intellectually, he wasn’t the most alert person I have ever met. His taste ruled the industry,” says Shah about Khanna, who gave hits such as Aradhana (1969), Haathi Mere Saathi (1971) and Anand (1971).”
Shah further went on to say, ‘The quality of script, acting, music and lyrics deteriorated. Colour came in. You could make a heroine wear a purple dress and hero a red shirt, go to Kashmir and make a movie. You didn’t need a story. This trend continued and I certainly think Mr Khanna had something to do with it because he was God in those days.”
Certainly not pleased with Shah’s not-so-flattering opinion about her late father who was also the country’s first celluloid superstar, Twinkle took to Twitter to express her disapproval.
